Petrovietnam Veterans Association donates house of “gratitude” to disadvantaged veretan
On 29th December, Petrovietnam Veterans Association in collaboration with the Veterans Association of the Central Economic Committee held a ceremony to donate house of gratitude to Mrs. Pham Thi Khang’s family in Xuan Phu Commune (Tho Xuan, Thanh Hoa).

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Dinh Van Cuong, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Economic Committee; Mr. Le Xuan Thanh, Director of the Department of Industry, Chairman of the Veterans Association of the Central Economic Committee; Mr. Do Minh Tuan, Deputy Secretary of Thanh Hoa Province’s Party Committee; Mr. Tran Viet Dzung, Standing Vice Chairman of Petrovietnam Veterans Association and representing leaders of the Central Economic Committee; Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs; Provincial Veterans Association and authorities, associations and people in Tho Xuan district.

After 2 months of active construction, a grade-4 house with an area of 80 m2 and heat-resistant roof has been completed with total budget of 150 million dong. Of which, 80 million dong was donated by Petrovietnam Veterans Association and the Central Economic Committee from PVN’s fund of “fellowship”. The remaining amount was contributed by the family, supported by members of the Association with tens of working days, and other sources.

 

Reportedly, Mrs. Pham Thi Khang’s family is in extremely difficult circumstance. They have lived in the deteriorated, unsafe house for years but they cannot afford to repair it and are sick very often. On the occasion of handing over the house to Mrs. Pham Thi Khang, the Central Economic Committee, the Veterans Association of Thanh Hoa province and local authorities have supported and encouraged the family with meaningful gifts.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Dinh Van Cuong, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Economic Committee encouraged Mrs. Pham Thi Khang’s family to overcome difficulties, make effort for increased production, economic development and get out of poverty soon. He requested the local authorities, sectors and branches at all levels to continue caring, facilitating, helping poor families, especially the veterans’ families, families under preferential treatment policy.

 

Mr. Dinh Van Cuong emphasized, in the coming time, the Veterans Associations of the Central Economic Committee and Petrovietnam would continue performing activities to pay tribute to those who have contribution to the country in many provinces including Thanh Hoa, in order to intensify the tradition of “drinking water, remembering its source”, contribute to reducing the difficulties for people who have sacrificed their lives to defend fatherland.

 

Receiving the house in happiness, Mrs. Pham Thi Khang was moved by the help of leaders of Petrovietnam, Veterans Association of Petrovietnam and the Central Economic Committee, local authorities and organizations so that her family had a spacious house that they could not afford. Now her family's dream has come true and it is a meaningful gift to her family. Mrs. Khang promised to continue maintaining the revolutionary tradition of the family, actively participating in building the country and defending fatherland together with community.

 

On behalf of Petrovietnam Veterans Association, Mr. Tran Viet Dzung sent the best regards to Mrs. Pham Thi Khang’s family. While the oil price falls sharply and Petrovietnam subsidiaries face difficulties, "gratitude" is still one of the practical and annual activities of Petrovietnam Veterans Association in order to promote quality and tradition of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", contribute to sharing with the soldiers for their sacrifice and loss to gain national independence and freedom. The activity also reflects Petrovietnam workers’ kindness in paying tribute to the families of war invalids, martyrs and veterans.

 

In the coming time, the activities will be continued by Petrovietnam Veterans Association in many provinces across the country to build more houses for the veterans’ family in difficult circumstances.

 

Earlier, on 26th December in Thai Binh province, Petrovietnam Veterans Association held the ceremony for handover of the house of gratitude to Mrs. Vu Thi Hut’s family, Veteran Vu Duc The’s wife (Thai Binh city) and Veteran Nguyen Van Dinh (Dong Hung district).
