Important agreements on Vietnam – Russia petroleum cooperation
On 21st September 2016, an important event in relation to building and development of economic cooperation between Vietnam and Russia – the 19th session of the Vietnam-Russia Intergovernmental Committee for Economic-Commercial and Scientific-Technological Cooperation, was held in Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library, Saint Petersburg City.

Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung and First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia signed the minutes of the meeting

 

First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov and Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung executed the meeting and signed a memorandum of understanding on bilateral cooperation.  

 

Speaking at a press briefing after the meeting, First Deputy Prime Minister I.I Shuvalov and Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung agreed that they were both very pleased with the achieved results. They also showed their expectation that in the coming time, Vietnam – Russia economic cooperation would have breakthrough developments, especially in the next October when Vietnam – Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement takes effect.    

 

During the meeting, the two sides discussed many important issues for economic cooperation in such fields as trade, energy, transport, agriculture, finance and banking …  

 

Earlier, on 20th September, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung had a meeting with Governor of Saint Petersburg Poltavchenko Georgy Sergeevich.

 

In his speech at the meeting, Governor of Saint Petersburg Poltavchenko Georgy Sergeevich said the bilateral cooperation between the City with Vietnam and locales had got significant achievements. However, such achievements were still not commensurate with the potentials and advantages of both sides. Especially in the near future, when the Vietnam – Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement officially becomes effective, it will certainly open up a lot of new opportunities for businesses of both sides.

 

Governor Poltavchenko Georgy Sergeevich said, at the time being, many enterprises of Saint Petersburg were interested in the projects for development of infrastructure and promotion of cooperation on machinery manufacture, agro-fishery import and export … Besides, cooperation on culture and education still remained a lot of potentials which had not been exploited by both sides.   

 

Giving thanks to the Governor for his respectful welcome, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung showed his great pleasure to visit Saint Petersburg, a city of famous monuments and also a big economic and cultural center of Russia, where the 19th session of Vietnam – Russia Intergovernmental Committee was held.    

 

“Vietnam – Russia comprehensive strategic partnership as well as the trust, loyalty and special sentiments between the two peoples is the solid foundation for cooperation relations in any field between the two countries”, said the Deputy Prime Minister.

An overview of the 19th session of Vietnam – Russia Intergovernmental Committee

 

Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung kindly requested Governor Poltavchenko Georgy Sergeevich to make considerations and create favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to research and enter Saint Petersburg market in particular and Russian market in general.

 

PNV working group led by Chairman of Board of Directors Nguyen Quoc Khanh together with leaders of some affiliates and professional divisions also attended the session and participated in preparation of the required documents for cooperation in the old and gas field.

Earlier, on 20th September, Chairman of Board of Directors Nguyen Quoc Khanh also held a meeting with the Leader of Gazprom, Russia's largest oil and gas group.
